Hey Cap, I was wondering if you could explain why the Texans wouldn’t use post June 1st trade or cut options for Tytus or Shaq. I noticed the cap savings to dead money seemed worth it. Is there something that would make them not want to do that and just use the pre June 1 cuts. I get they might need the cap before June 1st but I was just wondering if teams generally try to not use June 1 releases unless they’re trying to manipulate the dead money.

Hi Arthur. I think the team will potentially try to retain Tytus Howard on a reworked deal. I do agree that Shaq Mason will likely be released. Using the Post June 1 Designation on Mason does make some sense since there are minimal savings on a standard release. The additional savings could towards the draft class or Stingley & Pitre extensions. I don't anticipate Pitre's extension to add much to the 2025 cap, but I do think Stingley will add a few million this year. The only problem is, team has to carry Mason's salary cap charge as is until June 2.
