Hi everyone! If you listened to our last Cap & Trade Podcast, you would have heard my tease on a potential change to the podcast format was looming. With the bye week coming, I felt this was a good time to make the change.
We are moving to YouTube Live & Twitter Live (coming soon)!
I’ve used Twitter Spaces for the live portion of the show with great success. And I will likely continue using Spaces in some form in the future, but not for the Cap & Trade podcast specifically.
This change did not come easy. I’ve been stewing on this type of change since early in 2022 after we finished up the 2022 draft series of the podcast.
There are some factors driving this change.
The past few shows I’ve experienced technical difficulties with Spaces.
With the looming potential sale of Twitter has me curious how Spaces will be handled in the future.
Managing the Spaces through my iPhone is cumbersome; Twitter has given no indication when (or if) support would come to the web browser or even support for tablet devices.
Talking to folks without seeing a face is difficult for me personally. I can read and feed off the person I am speaking with based on their facial reactions.
Ultimately I believe I can produce a more organic show with better conversation back and fourth in a video format.
The downside is we won’t have the same type of listener interaction with this change. We will have the comment box open in YouTube Live and Twitter Live to get your feedback and questions in that manner. I will continue to explore how to increase listener interaction similar to what we had with Spaces.
The show will continue with the 9pm CST slot on Wednesdays. And we will continue with producing the audio into the podcast format as we have in the past.
StreamYard will be utilized for the video distribution. I hope to improve on use of this software to provide a fun and interactive show. Just bare with me in the beginning.
The first show, under new format platform, will be October 12, 2022 which will serve as a good trial. Then I can utilize the bye week to identify gaps for improvement.
