Welcome to the Cap & Trade newsletter, written by TexansCap. Folks also call me TC or Cap for short. I have searched for ways to start publishing some written work in a place that makes sense for all of us, both myself and you. Appears SubStack might be the place just for that.
I plan to transition my weekly Twitter Spaces/Podcast (also called Cap & Trade with TC) to publish here on Substack. The goal is to make this the home for my work going forward. You can also follow me on Twitter @TexansCap as well. My DM’s stay open and I try to answer what I can.
What to expect? That is a good question. For some the written word may be the best way to consume content. For others it may be audio (podcast). My goal is to capture both. The newsletter will be free for the foreseeable future as well!
About Me
As you may have guessed from my Twitter handle, I am a fan of the Houston Texans. Some of the work posted here will be Houston Texans related. But I also hope to expand my wings a bit and dive into other areas of the league.
I also work for OverTheCap.com with Jason Fitzgerald. By work, I am I give my free time towards managing contract data on the website. My primary focus is the four AFC South teams. I enter 99% of the contract data for those four teams. During the busy free agency and draft periods I assist in entering contract details across the league.
I host a weekly Twitter Spaces show on Tuesdays at 9pm CST. I just finished up my regular season series a few weeks ago. I am now taking a short break. I am developing a schedule for the offseason to cover free agency and the draft. More specifically I am working to line up guests to bring in their opinions and expertise to the show. More on that in the coming days. The show is recorded and redistributed as a podcast, named Cap & Trade with TC.
I do have a day job that is totally unrelated to this side of my life. Occasionally real life events may filter into this newsletter, but I hope to keep it minimal. I do have a busy lift with work, wife, and two kids…as many of us do.
Topics
I hope to cover various topics across the league. Ranging from football operations, salary cap, player contracts, and anything else interesting happening in the league. My first newsletter will cover the topic of salary cap carryover for 2022.
As for the frequency of this newsletter, that is to be determined. I suspect it will depend on topic availability and my free time. The publishing of my podcast through this newsletter will also hit your inbox.
If you have a question, topic you want to discuss, or just want to say hi you can reach me by email: Troy@overthecap.com or by Twitter DM @TexansCap
