Hello everyone, TC here.
If you are a new subscriber to the Cap & Trade Newsletter, welcome! This newsletter covers the NFL salary cap and roster construction across the league with additional coverage of the Houston Texans. I’ve been covering the Houston Texans since 2012, and have been working at OverTheCap.com for the past 7 years. I hope you find this newsletter informative and digestible. I do subscribe to a number of paywall-type websites for data sourcing and aggregation. While this newsletter remains free, you can donate to the cause here to at the button below:
I wanted to test out a new series addition to the Cap & Trade Newsletter that I am hoping to distribute weekly or semi-monthly. If you enjoy this series, please be sure to subscribe, like, or leave me a comment below.
I subscribe to various publications and newsletters across the wonderful world wide web. Some are free and some are paywalled. When I run across an interesting or informative article/blog/newsletter/podcast/YouTube show, I generally just share it on my Twitter timeline.
Why not share the same information with you! The subject matter shared will be primarily football related with other topics sprinkled in. I share other interests in the PGA Tour, Formula 1, sports management/business, and beyond.
Additionally I want to highlight the work of others.
If anything is paywalled, I will indicate as such below.

Tej is a brilliant young up and comer in the football data world with experience in the league and with PFF. This article covers the metric of Average Depth of Target (ADOT) for quarterbacks and how it relates to Expected Points Added (EPA). This statement is a good intro:
In the current NFL, the path to having an efficient passing attack does not need to stem from throwing deep shots excessively.
Tiger Woods Likes Shorter Tees
By: Fore Golf
I’ve been a fan of professional golf for 30+ years now. I love peaks behind the curtain at tour events, especially in the equipment trailers. The work those folks put in 48 weeks a year is amazing. This short video covers what happened when the TaylorMade trailer ran out of the short tees that Tiger prefers.

The Houston Texans organization is riding a wave of excitement and optimism heading into the 2023 season. There will be 8 training camp practices open to the public. This includes one night practice, and the two joint practices with the Miami Dolphins. Hopefully you were one of the lucky fans to snag a free ticket when the system went live yesterday. I’ll be attending as many training camp practices as my schedule allows.
